Football podcasts

Your Monday episode is sharp. By Thursday, nobody has seen a second of it.

Football has one game a week and six days of talking about it, and most of that talking happens in clips: a coach explaining why a fourth down call was right, a scout breaking down a prospect, a host declaring a quarterback finished. Your episode is the long version of that conversation. Clipped and captioned, it becomes a dozen entries into the week long argument instead of one file people mean to get to.

What gets in the way

Send the episode; the clips come back cut, captioned and ranked. That is the whole job on your side.

The moments that travel

The fourth down defenseA clear explanation of why an aggressive or conservative call was correct is what fans want after a close loss.
The draft prospect readA short, specific scouting note on a player everyone is about to argue about gets shared by every fan base that might pick him.
The quarterback verdictDeclaring a quarterback a franchise player or a bust, with reasons, is the most reliable debate starter in the sport.
The coaching tree storyInside stories about how a scheme spread from one staff to another give fans a sense they understand the league better.
The fantasy regretAdmitting who you benched and what it cost you is the universal football confession.

What we leave out

Injury information clipped without the source it came with can read as a report rather than a discussion, and in a sport this tied to betting lines that matters more than it used to. Avoid building clips on broadcast game footage you do not have rights to, and when a segment relies on an all 22 angle on your screen, make sure the clip still makes sense if the picture has to be reframed around you. Every clip comes with a safety check and its reasons, and nothing goes out until you post it.

Questions

My film breakdowns use a laptop screen share with telestration. Will those clip?

Yes, as long as the screen is part of your recording. The clip holds on the play when you are drawing on it and cuts back to you when you are talking, so the vertical frame stays legible.

Does the offseason, draft season and camp content clip as well as in season?

Draft takes and camp reports often clip better, because every fan base is looking for opinions about their own picks and there is no game result to compete with.

We cover college, not the NFL. Does anything change?

Only the subject matter. Rivalry debates, recruiting stories and conference realignment talk are strong clip material, and adding school and player names to Settings > Spelling keeps them right in captions and titles.
