Travel podcasts

You came home with hours of footage and posted one episode.

Travel is the most visual niche there is, and most travel podcasts still get discovered as a thumbnail and a title. A forty second clip of you standing in the place you are talking about does the selling the episode description never could. It also keeps the show alive between trips, when you are home editing and the feed has gone quiet.

What gets in the way

Send the episode; the clips come back cut, captioned and ranked. That is the whole job on your side.

The moments that travel

The plan that fell apartA missed train or a closed border is the story people stop for, because everyone has had a trip go sideways.
The thing nobody told youThe local rule, custom or scam you learned the hard way lands as advice the viewer can actually use.
The food reaction on cameraYour face tasting something for the first time says more than any description of the dish.
The place you would skipA frank verdict on an overrated stop reads as honest, and honest travels further than a highlight reel.
Your guest's hometown takeA local or expat correcting a common assumption gives the viewer something they did not expect to hear.

What we leave out

Keep passports, boarding passes, hotel room numbers and the fronts of people's homes out of any clip, and do not clip a stranger's face up close if you did not ask. Be careful with a clip that calls a place dangerous or a scam without the context you gave in the episode, because the clip is the only version most viewers will see. Every clip comes with a safety check and its reasons, and nothing goes out until you post it.

Questions

Most of my footage is from a phone on the road, not a studio. Does that matter?

No. Handheld footage of the actual place is the point in this niche, and vertical clips suit phone footage well.

I release episodes weeks after the trip. Is the footage still worth clipping?

Yes. A clip about a border crossing or a hidden restaurant is useful to someone planning that trip whenever they find it, so it keeps working long after you have come home.

Can the clips help me keep posting while I am travelling with bad wifi?

That is what they are for. You get a set of clips, titles and thumbnails per episode and can schedule or post them whenever you have a connection.
