Pop Culture podcasts

You had the take on Tuesday. The clip can't wait for Saturday.

Pop culture conversation happens in a window: the finale airs, the album drops, the casting leaks, and within days the discourse has moved on without you. A short with your take in it is how you get into that conversation instead of recapping it a week later. It's also where your co-host's unfiltered reaction, the thing your regulars love, finally gets seen by people who've never heard the show.

What gets in the way

Send the episode; the clips come back cut, captioned and ranked. That is the whole job on your side.

The moments that travel

The hot take, committedA ranking or verdict you'll actually stand behind, stated flatly, is what people stitch, duet and argue with.
The co-host loses itAn unscripted laugh, gasp or walk-off reaction is the most shareable thing you record and the hardest to find afterward.
The deep cut connectionLinking a new release to a forgotten one from years ago makes the person who remembers it feel seen.
The casting what-ifWho should have played the part, and why, is a short that never stops collecting comments.
The defense of the indefensibleMaking a sincere case for the movie, album or season everyone hated is a short people send to the one friend who agrees.

What we leave out

Avoid clipping the twist, the finale reveal or who dies without a spoiler card and a clear title in the first seconds; the people most likely to tap are the ones who haven't finished yet. Be careful with clips built around footage or audio from the thing itself, and with speculation about a celebrity's private life; the take is yours, the footage and the facts aren't. Every clip comes with a safety check and its reasons, and nothing goes out until you post it.

Questions

Can you time clips to a release or an episode drop?

There is no schedule field, but if you upload the episode as soon as it is recorded, clips are back the same day on Pro or within a day on Starter, with a rush add-on available. You post everything yourself, so you control exactly when each one goes up.

Do you keep both of us in frame when we talk over each other?

Yes. Crosstalk and reactions are kept as a two-shot rather than cutting to whoever is loudest, since the reaction is often the point.

Will you use footage from the movie or show in the clips?

No. The clips are built from your recording; if you want a poster or a still, you add it, so you stay in control of what you're putting your name on.
